Made from Huon Pine, one of the most prized native Australian timbers. Endemic to the temperate rainforests of western and southern Tasmania, Huon pine is an incredibly slow growing conifer, adding only a couple of millimeters to its diameter per year. Each tree can live up to 3000 years, making them the oldest living beings in Australia. They are heavily protected and modern access to Huon pine relies on salvaged timber. It works beautifully and has an incredible, buttery colour.
This flute is accented with lace Sheoak, fiddleback Blackwood and red Mallee burl, all native timbers.
